First Day of School

What a difference a year makes.

Last year at this time, it was pure panic and stress. Changing teachers was causing Sasha fits, she still wasn’t talking in school, and she was terrified if we didn’t walk her to the classroom door in the morning. When we left we saw her looking out the window at us, almost in tears.

This morning she was all excited, and took the bus. We drove and met her at the school, to meet the teacher. We saw the teacher early, before her bus got there, and dropped off her supplies and did that greeting thing.  Once the bus got there, (in the pouring rain) we all walked over to the waiting area, as the classes hadn’t opened for the kids yet.  As soon as she saw her friends, she completely ignored us and started gossiping away with the kids she hadn’t seen. The bell rang and they all marched inside.

She was having fun and waved "bye" and that was it. We were the parents, and not "cool" to talk with. She didn’t look back.

What a difference a year makes.

  1. This is so awesome! Well, too bad for you being not cool to be talking to, but I am sure you\’ll get over it. I think that this year is an overall humangus improvement over the DOG year. We deserve a break…may it never end. I think being able to look back and be happy for the changes is the reward we get for aging. Who\’s aging? Don\’t tell Yulia I said that!
